Stormy Northern Days is the first studio solo album by Canadian guitarist, singer/songwriter, and producer, Colin Cripps, originally released on CD only in 2013.
Colin is widely recognized as the lead guitarist for Canadian rock icons Blue Rodeo, but his contributions to the Canadian music industry span decades. In addition to his role in Blue Rodeo, he plays guitar for the Jim Cuddy Band and collaborates with singer/songwriter Kathleen Edwards. Cripps was also a member of '90s rock bands Crash Vegas and Junkhouse. His talent extends beyond performance; he has produced and written songs for notable artists including Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams, Big Wreck, The Headstones, and Stephen Fearing.
On Stormy Northern Days, Cripps showcases his subtle and understated style, both in his guitar work and his vocal performance. The album features an impressive lineup of guest musicians, including Derek Downham, Maia Davies, Anna Ruddick, Joshua Van Tassel, Chris Stringer, Kate Rogers, Kendel Carson, and Michael Boguski. Co-produced by Cripps and Stringer, the album boasts a very high-quality sound that complements its introspective lyrics.
